1/ Version 12.3 was always planned and timed to be the release vehicle for Microsoft Windows Server 2025 support, and we’re happy to deliver it timely along with support for Microsoft Windows Server 2025 Hyper-V, SCVMM 2025 and Microsoft Windows 11 24H2. And, of course, support for latest Linux distros and macOS 15 (Sequoia).
2/ From workload expansion perspective, the big additions to this release are Microsoft Entra ID (former Azure Active Directory) protection and expansion of our application-aware processing and malware detection engines to host-based Nutanix AHV VM backup.
3/ We significantly expanded our cyber resilience capabilities with built-in Indicators of Compromise (IoC) detection to help stop cyber-attacks BEFORE hackers start destroying and/or exfiltrating your data; and we further strengthened our threat detection capabilities with Veeam Threat Hunter, our new malware detection engine that brings the best of both worlds of YARA scans and classic signature-based antivirus scans.
4/ From core engine perspective, personally I’m excited about game changing performance and scalability improvements of our instant recovery, Linux file-level recovery and database recovery engines. For example, mass instant recovery of 200 VMs now completes almost 5x faster!
5/ We love object storage and want to help customers adopt any on-prem storage of their choice, including solutions with lower scalability limits as it comes to the number of objects per bucket, so we added automatic new bucket provisioning feature to dramatically improve scalability of such object storage with our workload.
6/ My personal favorite is Veeam Intelligence, which is basically Veeam AI Assistant 2.0. Veeam Intelligence now has new opt-in enhanced mode that provides natural language-based reporting on your backup infrastructure and production environments, based on the monitoring data collected by Veeam ONE. It is ultra cool, do check it out.
7/ Last but not least, this release has lots and lots of love for our Veeam Cloud & Service Providers around functionality like CDP, VMware Cloud Director integration, Cloud Connect Backup and more. Many R&D hours were put into these enhancements so I just had to highlight this effort here, even if it’s too much to uncover in this short post.

+
• Syslog filtering so users can now define which events are forwarded to the syslog server instead of having to forward all events
• 5x faster restore for Linux, Solaris and AIX FLRs. That’s huge. It’s so slow today…
• Instant recovery is 4x faster while consuming 3x less cpu and 7x less RAM in QA testing. All hw and nw being equal of course
• Publish backup files directly to AIX servers for bulk restores
• Can “restore to” alternative windows servers in enterprise manager. Previously, could only restore to original
